IC Information
Name: Red
Canon: Pokemon
Canon Point: HeartGold/SoulSilver, while he's still being a hermit on Mt. Silver.
History: Wham.
Personality: The very first thing one will notice about Red is that he's quiet. Not mute, mind you, definitely not mute, but quiet. It may seem a little redundant to call a silent protagonist quiet, but it applies to more than just his preference to not speak. When Red does speak, he never raises his voice, considering it a waste of energy when calm speech will get one further. His tone is usually calm and quiet when addressing others, even when he's getting angry with them (although his tone does seem to get rather clipped when it happens). He will always respect an authority figure, even if he disagrees with them. He prefers pushing his anger to the side when it does bubble up, however, in favor of his calm approach. Of course, this means he ends up bottling up a lot of it. To strangers and brief acquaintances, Red is a stoic, near-silent young man and could be considered the very epitome of the "strong, silent-type".

Red is also patient and deliberate in his approach of various things. He prefers to not rush into things head-on (although his caution is occasionally overridden by his curiosity and love of exploring), and if he's given the choice, would rather have enough time to prepare for what's ahead. This approach is what allowed Green to always be one step ahead of him--Red preferred to take things slowly and to take in everything that he could. This doesn't mean, however, that he's unable to think on his feet. He can easily make snap judgements in the midst of battle when tides are constantly turning, and he's good at keeping a battle in his favor. Nobody's entirely sure if he's just crazy-prepared or prone to flying by the seat of his pants and lucky enough for things to work out. He can keep level-headed and on top of a situation, working out and adapting battle strategies in the blink of an eye.

To Pokémon and most of his friends, Red is also very gentle. He treats all Pokemon, not just his own, with utmost respect. His own team gets absolutely spoiled when he can manage it. The members of his team are the most important ones in his life coming in before his human friends (though he doesn't really have a lot of those). His only friend that he isn't quite as gentle with is Green. Having known Green since childhood, he knows exactly what buttons to press to get his rival riled up, and he will do so... intentionally or not. Regardless of whether or not his needling is on purpose, it comes sparingly... though when it does come, it's delivered more often than not in deadpan. While Red does enjoy provoking his rival, when it comes down to it, he will stick with Green and stand by the other boy's side when needed... after all, despite how much crap they give each other, they are still best friends. Friendship is probably the most important thing to Red. On the other hand, to his enemies, he's cold. He absolutely will not stand aside when wrongdoers are running about, especially not when he's capable of thwarting their plans himself. In a situation like this, Red prefers working alone, considering it quicker and more efficient. Should he come up against a boss...? He's incredibly courageous, willing to do what needs to be done to put an end to plans that are sure to hurt others (I mean, come on, kid faced down Giovanni when he was eleven; that takes guts...).
